What is an ACH Batch

Edited

An ACH batch is a group of electronic payments or transfers that are submitted together as one file for processing through the ACH (Automated Clearing House) network.

Think of it like a digital envelope that holds multiple payment instructions—each one telling the bank how to move money from your account to someone else’s.

Instead of entering each payment one by one, an ACH batch allows you to group them together and send them all at once. It’s efficient, organized, and gives you control over when funds are sent or collected.

Every ACH Batch:

  • Is tied to one company name (the business sending or receiving the money)

  • Has a defined effective date (the date the money moves)

  • Can include multiple credits (you send money) or debits (you pull money)

  • Can be set up as a recurring batch, such as monthly payroll or rent collection
