Working within Remote Deposit Capture
When you create and submit a deposit in Remote Deposit Complete (RDC), the deposit moves through several steps while it is being reviewed and processed. During this time, the deposit may show different statuses. A status simply tells you what stage the deposit or transaction is currently in.
Below are the possible statuses you may see in the system and what each one means.
Status | Definition |
|---|---|
Approved | The transaction has been reviewed and verified. It will be processed at the designated cutoff time. |
Processed | The transaction has been sent to the appropriate payment network for processing. At this stage, changes can no longer be made and the transaction cannot be voided. |
Collected (ACH Only) | The transaction was originally returned for insufficient funds (NSF), but it was re-submitted and the funds were successfully recovered. |
Awaiting Capture | This status applies to credit card transactions only and means the transaction is waiting to be captured. |
Awaiting Approval | The transaction has been verified, but the amount exceeded the approval limit of the user who created it. Another authorized user must review and approve or void the transaction before it can continue processing. |
Declined | The system declined the transaction and it will not be processed. This usually happens because the transaction exceeded authorization or system limits. |
Voided | The transaction has been canceled and will not be processed. Transactions cannot be voided once they reach the Processed status. |
Error | A system error occurred while processing the transaction. If this happens, contact your first line of support for assistance. |
In Collection (ACH Only) | The transaction was returned due to insufficient funds and is currently being re-submitted in an attempt to recover the funds. |
Other ACH Returns | The ACH transaction was returned by the Federal Reserve and the funds will be charged back. |
Uncollected NSF (ACH Only) | The transaction was returned for insufficient funds and attempts to recover the funds were unsuccessful. |
Suspended | The transaction has been verified but exceeded system limits, so it has been temporarily suspended. |
Disputed (ACH Only) | The receiving account holder disputed the transaction, and it has been returned. The funds will be reversed. |
Invalid/Closed Account (ACH Only) | The receiving bank returned the transaction because the account number was invalid or the account has been closed. |
Resolved | The transaction has been marked as resolved by a user, meaning no further action is needed. Transactions can be moved to this status from several other statuses such as Declined, Voided, Error, or Returned. |
Other Check 21 Returns | The Check 21 transaction was returned by the Federal Reserve and the funds will be charged back. |
